Terms of Use

Effective date: September 30, 2026

These Terms of Use apply to thekingsburyworkshop.com and to custom orders placed with The Kingsbury Workshop LLC ("The Kingsbury Workshop," "we," or "us"), a small woodworking business in Washington State run by Michael Kingsbury. These Terms govern use of this website and custom orders placed with The Kingsbury Workshop LLC. Our Returns & Cancellations policy and Privacy Policy are part of these Terms.

Using this website

You may use this website to learn about our work, contact us, and request custom work. Please don't misuse it. For example, don't try to disrupt the site, gain unauthorized access to it, send spam through our forms, or copy our content for commercial use.

Quotes

Quotes are free. A quote is an estimate, not a binding offer, until we and you agree on the project's scope, price, and expected timing. Quotes may change if the project details change or if materials become unavailable or change in price before the order is confirmed.

Custom orders

Starting an order. An order enters production after the design and scope are approved, the price is agreed, and any required deposit is received.

Deposits. Our standard deposit for custom work is 50% of the agreed project price. We may adjust or waive the deposit for a particular project. The remaining balance is due as agreed for your order.

Design approval. Before we start building, we'll confirm the design and key details with you, such as dimensions, wood species, and layout. A Cutting Board Designer design you send us is used as the plan for your board, subject to that confirmation.

Changes after approval. If you ask for changes after approval, the price, timing, or both may change, and additional payment may be needed. Where practical, we'll agree on any change with you before continuing.

Real wood and handmade work

Every piece is handmade from natural wood. Grain, color, figure, knots, mineral streaks, and small natural features vary from board to board, and wood naturally moves with changes in humidity. These are characteristics of real wood, not defects.

Because each item is made by hand, small variations in final dimensions, grain placement, strip alignment, pattern, and color may occur. These normal variations don't excuse an item that is materially different from the approved order. See Returns & Cancellations for how we handle problems.

Timing, shipping, and delays

We'll give you an estimated completion or shipping time for each accepted order. Estimates depend on the project, materials, and our workload. If we can't meet the time we gave you, we'll tell you as soon as we know, give you a new estimate when we can, and offer you the choice to wait or cancel for a refund of amounts paid for the item that wasn't delivered.

Shipping costs and options are agreed for each order. Local pickup may be available by arrangement.

Returns and cancellations

Cancellations, workmanship problems, shipping damage, and refunds are covered by our Returns & Cancellations policy, which is part of these Terms.

Artwork, logos, and names you provide

If you ask us to reproduce a logo, image, name, trademark, or other artwork, you're responsible for having the right or permission to use it. We may decline requests that we believe could infringe someone else's rights or that we're not comfortable making. This doesn't remove any responsibility the law places on us.

Care and use

Cutting boards need basic care to last. Hand wash, dry promptly, and oil regularly. Don't soak your board or put it in a dishwasher. Damage caused by improper care, misuse, or normal wear isn't a workmanship defect.

Our content

The text, photos, designs, and other content on this website belong to The Kingsbury Workshop LLC or are used with permission. You may share links to our pages, but please don't copy our content for commercial use without permission.

Cutting Board Designer

Cutting Board Designer is a free planning tool at designer.thekingsburyworkshop.com. Board sizes, cut lists, material estimates, and costs it produces are planning aids only. Check measurements and quantities yourself before buying materials or cutting, and follow safe practices when using tools. The app may have its own terms and has its own privacy policy.

Availability and changes

We work to keep this website available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may update the site, our offerings, or these Terms at any time. Changes to these Terms apply from the effective date shown above and don't change the terms of an order already agreed.

Our responsibility

We stand behind our work as described in these Terms and our Returns & Cancellations policy. Except as stated there, the website and its content are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under law that can't be limited.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
